Eight is Great!!

and we celebrated by having a soccer themed Birthday party. Davin and most of the boys in his class played soccer almost everyday at school, since they don't have any real playground equipment, so needless to say they have all become pretty good. I can't tell you how many new pairs of shoes I had to buy for him during the school year because of all the wear and tear from recess (Soccer time), not to mention new socks either. I finally wised up and started buying only black socks, so they would at least look clean.
The last outdoor Birthday party we held for Davin was a little crazy because of the wind. This year it was like deja vu all over again. I did come prepared though. I had my staple gum to staple down all the table cloths and we brought some big rocks to weigh down the table decorations. I was a little bummed though, because I really wanted to set up place settings for each boy, but the wind made that impossible.
 Davin was so excited to have a soccer themed party. He helped me design and make shirts for all the boys, complete with their own numbers, so they could play a "Real" game of soccer between the green and black team.
Those boys played soccer pretty much the whole party, until it was time to break the pinata and have cake. Too bad our Pinata didn't cooperate and we ended up just scattering the candy in the grass and let the kids come race to it from far away.

 

 

We passed out Gatorade water bottles at the end of the party and all the boys got to keep their shirts as their party favor. 

 

We decided to wait to open Davin's Birthday presents at home, to ease some of the chaos and it was apparent pretty quickly that Davin had told all of his friends that he wanted a Nerf gun for his Birthday. And that is exactly what he got!! We were laughing so hard every time he opened a gift, because we knew right away what it was going to be. SOO funny! Gotta Love this sweet kid. He made sure he got what he wanted. The kids have had quite a few Nerf gun wars.
