Well, we knew it was going to happen, but didn't know when. Dave's Grandpa Kooi passed away last Sat (Sep 13th) with Dave and his mom and family by his side. Dave had flown up to see him and offer some sanity to his mom and sister and family, and was able to say his last goodbye to his grandpa. He went peacefully and will be greatly missed. Dave went up on Thursday and was able to spend a little time with him and then he was gone on Saturday morning. Dave wasn't able to stay for the funeral, but I think it meant a lot to him that he was able to see him before he left. We love him and can't wait to see his sweet smiling face again.
This is one of my favorite pictures of him. It was taken a few couple of years ago while they were visiting at a Cubs game. He loved the CUBS!!!
